Is it safe to travel?

All operators, airlines, hoteliers and transport companies have gone to great length to ensure your travels are safe. You can find daily updates on the travel restrictions in place in different countries around the world here.

Where can I travel?

From 4 October, a new simplified system with a single red list for international travel replaces the current traffic light system. Travel to red list countries is not advised, but travel to all other countries is permitted.

Will I need to isolate when I come back from countries not on the red list?

If you have not been in a red list country in the 10 days prior to arriving in England, you will need to take a PCR test on your return and isolate until you receive a negative result. There are different rules if you have been in a red list country or territory in the 10 days before you arrive in England. Find the full details here.

Will I need to take tests when travelling back from countries not on the red list?

If you live in England and have received two vaccinations 14 days or more before travelling, you will still need to take a day-two test after travelling home.

If you live in England and have not received two vaccinations 14 days or more before travelling, you will need to take a test both before and after travelling home.

How long are travel restrictions likely to be in place?​​​​​​​

The red list - for countries considered highest risk - remains for the time being, and arrivals will still need to pay for a quarantine hotel. Red list rules apply whether you are fully vaccinated or not. Check the red list here.

Should I be worried about booking a holiday?

Any holidays booked through Mail Travel are financially protected by the tour operator operating the tour, either through ABTA, AITO, ABTOF, TTA (or similar) and/or ATOL, meaning the government's travel financial protection schemes will refund you should travel restrictions prevent you from going or cause the trip to be cancelled.

I've booked a holiday. Can I cancel or postpone it?

Please make contact with the tour operator with whom your booking has been made, to discuss your booking. You will be able to find information relating specifically to cancellations or rebooking options on the operators' website. Alternatively, contact information can be found on your confirmation invoice.

Who can I speak with to discuss my booking?

If you have any concerns about a trip you have booked though us, please contact the operator as above.

What happens if my holiday is cancelled?

If your holiday has to be cancelled the operator will be in contact with you to discuss your options.

All our tours and holidays are ATOL-protected and we only work with travel operators that are members of, or bonded by, one or more of the following officially recognised trade bodies: ABTA, ABTOT and AITO.
